Privacy Policy

A Manifest of Our Gratitude for Your Trust. Last Updated: April 19, 2025

1. Our Core Principle: Your Sanctuary

Ponder is designed to be a sacred, private space for your personal reflections. Our fundamental commitment is that your gratitude journal entries are yours and yours alone. This policy details how we uphold that commitment. This policy applies to the Ponder - Gratitude application ("App") provided by Adrian Bunge ("we", "us", "our").

2. Data Storage: Your Private Journal

All of the content you create within Ponder, including your journal entries, reflections, and the AI-generated visualizations, is stored securely using Apple's robust privacy technologies:

  • On-Device Storage: By default, all your data lives securely on your iPhone or iPad. It is not accessible by any other app or by us.
  • Private iCloud Sync (Optional): If you choose to enable iCloud sync, your data is transmitted and stored using end-to-end encryption in your personal iCloud account. This means only you can access it, and only on devices where you are signed in to your Apple ID.

We, the developers of Ponder, do not have the keys to decrypt or access your journal content. The architecture of the app is designed to make this technically impossible.

3. AI-Powered Visualizations

When you choose to "Visualize" a journal entry, the text of that specific entry is sent to a secure, third-party AI model (such as OpenAI's DALL-E API) to generate an image.

  • The text is processed anonymously by the AI model solely for the purpose of creating the illustration.
  • We have a strict policy with our AI partners that your data is not to be used for training their public models or for any purpose other than generating your image.
  • The resulting image is sent back directly to your device and stored as part of your private journal in your local storage or iCloud. The prompt and image are not permanently stored on our servers.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

To be perfectly clear, we do not require an account, and we do not collect or track any personally identifiable information (PII). This includes:

  • Your name, email, or other contact information.
  • Your precise location.
  • Any personal analytics about your usage patterns, frequency of journaling, or the content of your entries.

5. Anonymous Analytics for App Improvement

To help us fix bugs and improve the app for all users, we may collect a minimal amount of anonymous, non-personal technical data. This may include:

  • Aggregated crash reports to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Anonymous data on which features are being used most often, to help us prioritize future development.

This information is always aggregated and cannot be used to identify you or access your personal content.

6. Contact & Support

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy and how we protect your private space, please reach out to us. We are here to listen.
